Blessing Barrels

We want to bless people in our community by taking care of specific needs. Each month we will choose an important need in our community and collect items to fulfill that need, whether it is shoes for low-income children or canned goods for the local food pantry. Members of our church are asked to bring the month's items and place them in the blessing barrels through out the month.

For more information on what we will be collecting each month please visit the Connection Center or contact Tammy Welch at Tammy@woodfordcommunity.org

BEYOND THE WALLS

At WCCC, we want to make the name of Jesus famous by how we love, provide for and impact people.

Woodford County High School - Homework Club

The WCHS Homework Club serves more than 60 students struggling academically and lacking support at home. The club meets Tuesday and Wednesday after school for an hour of tutoring. WCCC provides snacks during the club time. Many of the students only receive meals when they are at school, so we have an opportunity to help give them extra food.

We provide a meal every 6 to 8 weeks for the children involved in the club as well as their siblings and families (more than 100 people). The meal is prepared at WCCC then taken to the high school where we get to connect with the students and their families. Left overs are packed up and sent home with the families so nothing goes wasted.

Contact Jason Eaton to get involved. Jason@woodfordcommunity.org

Simmons Elementary

We support Simmons Elementary in several crucial ways.

1. WCCC partners with Simmons Elementary to provide a Learning Center program called PAWS. The majority of children in this program are on free and reduced lunch  and part of a non-traditional family. The PAWS program operates afterschool from 3:00-5:45 PM and during the summer, Monday-Thursday from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. Tutors and mentors are needed to help provide children educational support and build relationships with adults who truly care about their success. We can work with your schedule, whether you can only come once a month or several times a week.

2. Do you have time available during the school day (8:00 AM - 3:00 PM)? We love to provide additional support to Simmons by offering classroom aids and one-on-one tutoring with children K-5. Being able to provide additional resources to students throughout their day is a great help to the school. We can work with your availability, whether it is once a month or several times a week.

If you are interested in participating contact Rafael Gonzalez, raf@woodfordcommunity.org.

Clothing Bank

The Woodford County Clothing Bank, located on the WCCC campus, collects gently used or new clothing. Please try to ensure donations are seasonal and clean. We follow the rule: if you would not give it to a friend, we probably will not be able to use the item.

Donating Clothes: The clothing bank collects donations on MOndays from 8:30-11:30 AM (closed when schools are closed for weather and holidays).

Picking Up Clothes: The clothing bank is open to receive clients Tuesdays from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM and on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Food Pantry

The Woodford County Food Pantry provides much needed nutrition for low-income households in emergency situations. As a church we support this ministry through donations of food, financial gifts and providing volunteers.

If you are interested in participating in this ministry contact Randy Nation, randy@woodfordcommunity.org. Learn more about the food pantry here.

Community Meal

The churches in our community work together to feed Woodford County's hungry every Monday evening at First Christian Church. WCCC is responsible for the meal every third Monday of the month. We also deliver to more than a hundred shut-ins throughout the county.

The $1 Club

The $1 Club is a simple extension of hope, one small dollar at a time. During different times throughout the year, we ask our church to give one extra dollar on top of their regular giving. We pull the extra dollars that come from each person in attendance and at the end of the month we give the money to an individual or a family in need. This gift can radically impact their situation.

If you are interested in learning more about the dollar club or have a need contact Jason Eaton, jason@woodfordcommunity.org.
