We believe a quality education is the key to success for our children. Once they turn 18 and are no longer in our care, we strive to continue to walk with them and help our youth achieve goals they never knew were possible.
We know education will provide our youth the opportunity to break out of the cycle of abuse and live healthier and more productive lives. Working with the state, Hope Hill provides youth over the age of 18 from our residential and foster care program the opportunity to pursue their higher education goals.
This program allows us to help kids without parental support to further their education while they learn to live on their own. While attending school full time, our youth will also:
-
Learn Basic life skills
-
Learn how to apply for jobs
-
Open checking accounts and manage finances
-
Set up and keep up an apartment
-
Schedule classes
They must also:
-
Maintain a 2.5 GPA
-
Have a part-time job
-
Pass random drug screenings
-
Have one-on-one meetings with their case manager
-
Complete an independent living class
-
Give back to the community through community service
-
Develop and pursue educational and vocational goals (high school, diploma, GED, trade school, or college)
-
Maintain contact with family or social worker
-
Maintain a personal budget
