Hope Hill Children’s Home has a recovery component dedicated to working with the youth abusing and dependent on drugs and/or alcohol. We have dedicated and passionate Master Level Therapists and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor that work hand-in-hand with our young ladies to challenge, guide and support them through their individual treatment process.
Recovery from chemical abuse and dependency is a holistic process. Our approach addresses five different areas; physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. The recovery component assists the youth in understanding the issues underlying their drug use and what function their use was meeting in their lives.
Due to the many life issues which lead to and result from substance use and co-occurring disorders, we believe genuine recovery cannot occur in a short-term placement. It is a long-term process which takes six to nine months to be established in the lives of the youth. This is more intensive than your 28-day or 45-day rehab programs.
The group treatment aspect of this component includes:
-
Psycho Educational Groups and Problem Solving Process Groups
-
Prevention / Skill Groups
-
Emotional Regulation and Anger Management Groups
-
Mapping Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
-
Narcotics Anonymous Development to acclimate dependent youth to an ongoing nation wide support group
-
Age appropriate values clarification/moral reasoning activities designed to stimulate our youth’s internalization of recovery gains.
Throughout this process best practice is used by pairing Motivational Enhancement Techniques with Cognitive Behavioral and Reality Therapy. This process when allowed to be completed often results in the youth leaving the program’s care in the action / maintenance stage of recovery. This level of success paired with an understanding of outside support systems and the need for continued out patient therapy increases our youth’s ability to experience mental health in their new drug free lives.
